evangeline

April 8, 2008 at 11:31 am (the band) ()

she stands on the banks ot the mighty Mississippi

alone in the pale moonlight

waiting for the man a riverboot gambler

said that he’d return tonight

they used to waltz in the banks of the mighty Mississippi

loving the whole night trough

’till the riverboat gambler went off to make a killing

and bring it on back to you

Evangeline, Evangeline,

curses the soul ot the Mississippi queen

that pulled her man away

Bayou Sam, from the South Lousiana

had gambling in his veins

Evangeline, from the Maritimes

was slowly going insane

high on the top of the Hickory Hill

she stands in the lighning and thunder

down on the river the boat was a-sinking

she watched that queen go under

Evangeline, Evangeline,

curses the soul ot the Mississippi queen

that pulled her man away

do right, woman, do right, man

February 17, 2008 at 1:59 pm (willie nelson) ()

Take her to heart and she’ll always love you and nobody can make her do wrong
But take her for granted leavin’ your love unshown
Makes willpower weak and temptation strong
A woman’s only human this you should understand
She’s not just a plaything she’s flesh and blood just like her man
And if you want a do right all day’s woman you gotta be a do right all night’s man
A woman’s only human…
You gotta be a do right all night’s man

achy breaky heart

February 4, 2008 at 10:20 pm (billy ray cyrus, chipmunks) ()

You can tell the world, you never was my girl
you can burn my clothes up when I’m gone
you can tell your friends just what a fool I’ve been
and laugh and joke about me on the phone

You can tell my arms go back to the farm
you can tell may feet to hit the floor
or you can tell may lips to tell my fingertips
they won’t be reaching out for you no more

CHORUS But don’t tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
I just don’t think he’d understand
and if you tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
he might blow up and kill this man
Ooooooooo!

You can tell your ma, I moved to Arkansas
you can tell your dog to bite my leg
or tell your brother Cliff whose fist can tell my lip
he never really liked my anyway

Or tell your aunt Louise, tell anything you please
myself already knows I’m not O.K.
or you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
it might be walking out on me today
[Achy Breaky Heart lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

But don’t tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
I just don’t think he’d understand
and if you tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
he might blow up and kill this man

But don’t tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
I just don’t think he’d understand
and if you tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
he might blow up and kill this man
Ooooooooo!

But don’t tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
I just don’t think he’d understand
and if you tell my heart
my achy breaky heart
he might blow up and kill this man
Ooooooooo!

Ooooooooo!

thank God I’m a country boy

February 4, 2008 at 10:13 pm (john denver) ()

Well life’s on a farm is kinda laid back,
ain’t much an old country boy like me can hack.
It’s early to rise, early in the sack
Thank God I’m a country boy.

Well a simple kind of life never did me no harm,
a raisin’ me a family and workin’ on a farm.
Days are all filled with an easy country charm
Thank God I’m a country boy.

Well I got me a fine wife, I got me ‘ol fiddle
When the sun’s comin’ up I got cakes on the griddle
Life ain’t nothin’ but a funny, funny riddle,
Thank God I’m a country boy.

When the work’s all done and the sun’s settin’ low
I pull out my fiddle and I rosin’ up the bow.
Kids are asleep so I keep it kinda low
And thank God I’m a country boy.

I’d play “Sally Goodin’” all day if I could,
but the lord and my wife wouldn’t take it very good.
So I fiddle when I can, work when I should
Thank God I’m a country boy.

Well I got me a fine wife, I got me old fiddle.
When the sun’s comin’ up I got cakes on the griddle;
Life ain’t nothin’ but a funny, funny riddle,
Thank God I’m a country boy.

(instrumental)

I wouldn’t trade my life for diamonds or jewels,
I never was one of them money hungry fools.
I’d rather have my fiddle and my farmin’ tools
Thank God I’m a country boy.

Yeah, city folk drivin in a black limousine,
A lotta sad people thinkin’ that’s a mighty keen.
Son let me tell ya now exactly what I mean
Thank God I’m a country boy.

Well I got me a fine wife, I got me old fiddle.
When the sun’s comin’ up I got cakes on the griddle;
Life ain’t nothin’ but a funny, funny riddle,
Thank God I’m a country boy.

(instrumental)

Well, my fiddle was my daddy’s till the day he died,
and he took me by the hand, held me close to his side.
Said, “Live a good life and play my fiddle with pride,
Thank God your a country boy.

Well my daddy taught me young how to hunt and how to whittle,
Taught me how to work and play a tune on the fiddle.
Taught me how to love and how to give just a little.
And thank God I’m a country boy.

Well I got me a fine wife, I got me old fiddle.
When the sun’s comin’ up I got cakes on the griddle;
Life ain’t nothin’ but a funny, funny riddle,
Thank God I’m a country boy.

blue eyes crying in the rain

February 4, 2008 at 9:58 pm (willie nelson) ()

In the twilight glow I seen her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we’d never meet again
Love is like a dying ember
And only memories remain
And through the ages I’ll remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Someday when we meet up yonder
We’ll stroll hand in hand again
In the land that knows no parting
Blue eyes crying in the rain

down in the river to pray

January 30, 2008 at 4:19 pm (alison krauss) (, , )

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sisters let’s go down,
Let’s go down, come on down,
O sisters let’s go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O brothers let’s go down,
Let’s go down, come on down,
Come on brothers let’s go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O fathers let’s go down,
Let’s go down, come on down,
O fathers let’s go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O mothers let’s go down,
Let’s go down, don’t you want to go down,
Come on mothers let’s go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sinners let’s go down,
Let’s go down, come on down,
O sinners let’s go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

hello walls

January 18, 2008 at 3:08 pm (faron young) ()

Hello walls (hello hello) how things go for you today
Don’t you miss her since she upped and walked away
And I’ll bet you dread to spend another lonely night with me
But lonely walls I’ll keep you company
Hello window (hello hello) well I see that you’re still here
Aren’t you lonely since our darling disappeared
Well look here is that a teardrop in the corner of your pane
Now don’t you try to tell me that it’s rain
She went away and left us all alone the way she planned
Yes we’ll have to learn to get along without her if we can
Hello ceiling (hello hello) I’m gonna stare at you a while
You know I can’t sleep so won’t you bear with me awhile
We must all stick together or else I’ll lose my mind
I’ve got a feeling she’ll be gone a long long time (hello hello)

crying time

January 16, 2008 at 2:42 pm (glen campbell)

Oh, it’s cryin’ time again, you’re gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin’ Oooh
That it won’t be long before it’s cryin’ time
Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder (fonder)
And that tears are only rain to make love grow
Well my love for you could never grow no stronger (stronger)
If I lived to be a hundred years old
Oh, it’s cryin’ time again, you’re gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin’. Yeah now

That it won’t be long before it’s cryin’ time
Now you say you’ve found someone that you love better (better)
That’s the way it’s happened every time before
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow (’morrow)
Cryin’ time will start when you walk out the door
Oh, it’s cryin’ time again, you’re gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin’. Alright now
That it won’t be long before it’s cryin’ time
(That it won’t be long before it’s cryin’ time)

bang bang

January 15, 2008 at 2:40 pm (cher) ()

I was five and He was six

We rode on horses made of sticks

He wore black, and I wore white

He would always win the fight

Bang bang, you shot me down

Bang bang, I hit the ground

Bang bang, that awful sound

Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Seasons came and changed the time

And I grew up, I called him mine

You would always laugh and say

Remember when we used to play

Bang bang, I shot you down

Bang bang, you hit the ground

Bang bang, that awful sound

Bang bang, I used to shoot you down

Music played and people sang

Just for me the church bells rang

Hey, Hey, Hey

Now he’s gone, I don’t know why

Until this day sometimes cry

He didn’t even say good-bye

He didn’t take the time to lie

Bang bang, he shot me down

Bang bang, I hit the ground

Bang bang, that awful sound

Bang bang, my baby shot me down
